New Kennedy Gallery
I have a new web gallery up and running. It is in its early stages, but there is an interesting movie as well as images from our trip to Mark Pena's houseboat.

Yet Another Orb...
As you may have heard, the gigantic Zaca Fire has been burning near Santa Barbara for over five weeks. It has dominated the skyscape here, producing crazy sunsets and lots of falling ash.
Here's a picture of the full moon illuminated by sunlight passing through smoke.
I think this is a pretty good shot, but it still doesn't do justice to the real thing. It was somehow freakier in real life, like Mars rising.

Uncle Sean Rocking
Proof, shocking proof I tell you, that middle aged IT workers can still rock when supplied with sufficient coffee and a bit of free time. The guitar is a 1962 fender jazzmaster reissue, as played by Television, Sonic Youth, Elvis Costello, Kurt Cobain, My Bloody Valentine, etc. It's an amazing instrument capable of delicate chime-like tones and roaring slabs of distorted beauty when pushed through the right amp (in this case a Vox AC15.) I realize this post borders on gear fetish, but the SOUND man, the SOUND... Painting to the right is an abstract work by Rebecca Ludlow, a local artist.

The First of Many
I found this planetoid relaxing in a cracked mudscape outside my cottage. It took a few days to notice how interesting it was actually. If you click on the image and zoom in, the cracks on the surface of the orb reveal themselves to be fractals of the cracked earth upon which it sits.
This example of a fractal does not compare to Lake Taal in the Philippines www.newscientist.com/blog/environment/2007/06/fractal-environments.html but it does have the advantage of being closer to home.
Entry No. One: A wacky planetoid, for your viewing pleasure...

Recent pictures from San Diego
We recently spent a week at the Westin in Rancho Mirage. A whole lot of swimming and I even got to golf three times in one week! John Rodman and K2 allowed me to play their home course - it was great. I also added in a few shots from the 4th of July which we spent at the Grand Tradition in Fallbrook for the 3rd year in a row.
Tri This!

Adieu, I am off to Europe with Orchestra
I leave early morning of June 19th for the great music capitals of Europe: Salzburg, Vienna, Prague. I am really excited - I will get to see where Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms hung out. We have six concerts and lots of sight-seeing. I will have lots to share when I get home on July 2nd. Love to everybody. Mom / Grandma Joan

Muddy Buddies
Trish 'n Trash ran the San Jose Muddy Buddy this weekend. Check out the website (muddybuddy.com). They have these races in several cities across the US. Two people, one bike, 7 miles, 4 obstacles and a giant mud lake. Free beer for the finishers. We ran it in in an hour and 13 minutes, finishing 31'st in our age group. Not bad for a couple of former couch potatoes!
