Wildflower Weekend
I know that you guys are probably tired of the triathon pics by now, but we just had to show you some pics from the "Woodstock of Triathlons" - the Wildflower Triathlons in Montery County. This is the largest event of it's kind in the world. Tricia ran her first tri ever, and I did the famously difficult Olymic course. Check it out!

New Sled

Should have posted a few shots of this before. We picked this up a few months ago for a really good price (sorry Bison - we bought locally - saved you from having to sell at a loss). Anyway it is 28 feet long with bunks in back and a queen bed in front. It is narrow for easy towing but has a big slide that makes it very roomy when parked. We have a 10 day trip to Oregon coming up in June and we will be coming through the Kennedy North realm for the 4th of July.

Tico Kennedy - ~1994 - January 14, 2008

It's a sad day in Escondido as our long loved pet and companion Tico passed away this afternoon. He was quite old, could not see or hear very well, and as of late was in a lot of pain. He was unable to get up or sit down without assistance.
He was a great dog and family member and will be sorely missed. It has been a tough weekend as we also lost a close family friend to cancer on Sunday morning. Coupled with John's passing a few months back makes this a triple whammy.
Amanda was inspired this evening to write a poem - one that is much better than the previous post:
Life - by Amanda Kennedy
We get our ups and downs
and all arounds.
But that's just the way life works -
sometimes we get our go's and jerks.
What's coming around the corner nobody can know,
so come with me and we'll see all the colors of the rainbow.
(She wrote this out on rainbow stationary)

Yes, that is a typewriter ...
Only in SF. My father in law, Auggie, and I ran across this guy at the Ferry Plaza. He writes poetry for tips. Our poem:
three generations later
the whole family goes
out to lunch because
while there may be
thousands of years
of Auggie Kennedy
though the harris
is the grandparent
in question and present
accounted for and more
than line, families
carry their pride
by continuing to
eat together by
visiting living
love and one of
the best things
we get Auggie is
a history, family
and a lifetime to
find out that what
we're made of is
us grown up and
older for knowing
it.
Hey - I didn't say he writes good poetry!

happy new year everyone!
We just got home last night from Mexico. Had a great trip! Joan came down for a few days and here is a picture of her and Shelly atop the a Mayan temple in Coba.
This year we took a side trip to Merida, the capital of Yucatan state. It is a wonderful, wonderful colonial city where every Saturday night they close off all of the streets in the old "centro" and have eight or ten bandstands with music and dancing until two or three in the morning. "Domingo en Merida" is also an event - the city sponsors a ton of activities for kids and grown ups alike in the main square of town ... not to mention the best street food restaurants you've ever been to. Delicious, delicious, delicious. Put Merida on your travel plans - just don't go in the summer. We were there the days before new year and it was in the high eighties already.
We are happy to be home and to say ADIOS to the mosquitoes! Feels good to sleep in a bed without a net, to have 24 hour power, and to drink tap water!
